Episcopal Social Services
February 2006
This performance took place at Episcopal Social Services in Wichita. ESS runs a program to help first-time juvenile offenders get back on the right track. The students of the program have a graduation ceremony at the end of their time at ESS. Formerly, ESS brought in an inmate from a Kansas prison to talk to the kids. However, Catherine Consiglio felt that exposing the kids to fine art would be a more positive experience.
The Fairmount String Quartet played a nice variety of music before ending with the Bartok quartet. This was the first performance with the video synthesizer, so the video realization on my part is not as fully developed as some of the later performances.
The kids responded very positively to the video presentation had a number of interesting questions and comments after the performances. Hopefully some will be inspired to pick up an instrument!
