My name is LaNora Lowe. I am 24 years old and I am in my first year of music here at Wichita State. I am working on a degree in music education with a focus on the viola. I have not always desired to be a music teacher. In fact, my first year here in college I wanted to go into the medical field. Then I switched to studying Paralegal in Washington state. Now I would like to teach students, yet maybe later continue with my studies to become a lawyer.
In the past, I have taught private lessons on the viola at Northeast Area Strings Academy of Wichita and in the Wichita Public Schools. I have been blessed to play with the Wichita High School East orchestra for approximately 5 years (I began playing with them my 8th grade year) and I was able to go to the Midwest Clinic in Chicago with them. I played with the Wichita Symphony Youth Orchestras for nearly 6 years and I have played in many more events!
Playing the viola created many wonderful memories in my life! I stopped playing for nearly three years and I felt a hole in my life. Now that I am playing again, I am creating new friendships and many more terrific memories! Music is truly a joy!!!
