- Hello, my name is John Carper. I am a grad student at WSU, studying cello. In the picture above I am playing the Prokofiev cello sonata in hot and humid conditions (90+° F, 90% humidity) wearing crocs and wool trousers. My feet were the only part of me that was comfortable.

Also, here's the midi file of an austere and tranquil piece I wrote for 2 flutes, string bass and percusssion:[ waters_above_the_firmament ] I'm getting a group together to play it at Zeitgeist some time this November.(I even wrote a song about a penguin of all things, but I wouldn't want to overload cratel's server--I've uploaded enough for now.) I am participating in Strings Kansas!, and Art and Technology sound and Design. My poetry/politics blog is here .
