Amanda Swenson
Hi my name's Amanda. I am a Senior in Music Education/Performance at Wichita State University. I do not plan to graduate until May '08 so I cannot celebrate graduation too soon. I started playing the piano in 1st grade and the violin in 3rd grade. I decided that I liked the violin more and so I stopped piano lessons in high school so I could get more serious with the violin. In high school I studied with Dr. David Lowe, retired violin professor at Bethany College and Juilliard alumni, and I am now taking from John Harrison at WSU. I am very excited about Strings Kansas!!!! It is a priviledge to be able to share the gift of music with students from all over Kansas. I am from Concordia, KS and there is no string program which makes me very sad. Personally when I get older I want to teach high school inner city kids. But first I want to pursue a Masters in Education--although I have no idea where yet. I would love to live in a big city for awhile but then come back to Kansas!! I am definitely a Kansas girl at heart and always will be. I also teach privately and currently have 8 students. Another big passion of mine is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and I love playing for His glory everyday!!! I am now waiting to see what He has in mind for me next---it's so exciting!!! I never thought He would call me to the inner city and I can't wait!!! Feel free to email me ( aaswenson@wichita.edu ) anytime if you have any questions. God bless!!
