My name is Amanda Hoover. I am a graduate violin performance major at Wichita State University. I began studying the violin at age four. My two older sisters played the violin and my admiration of them prompted me to do everything they did. I hope through Strings Kansas I can act as an "older sister" to the 4th and 5th graders in the program.

The above picture is when I was in Africa allowing a little girl to experience the violin. While in Africa, I was given the opportunity to play my violin for thousands of children who had never seen a string instrument. The violin broadened my ability to reach these children, breaking the language barrier to freely communicate through the joy of music. Strings Kansas has the same agenda, for which I am thrilled to take part. It is my deepest desire to communicate as a role model not only in music but in life, allowing music through string instruments to break barriers of whatever might hinder our friendship.
