Project: Universal Wheelchair System

Team Members: Cody Hastings, Ali Bouhouch, Imran Malik, and Kishor Puri

The Universal Wheelchair system is a project to create a system utilizing the Android platform to send signals to devices.  The system will consist of an application designed to run on Android 4.0, an Arduino Uno, and infrared emitters.  Other competing projects are merely universal remotes utilizing the Arduino Uno, but our system will be differentiated from these products by the Android application that will control it.  

The project has been targeted to help people who are confined to wheelchairs control the multiple devices that they would use everyday.  While working directly with the Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation, it became apparent that the residents with limited mobility needed a better system to allow them to control their household devices; therefore, the idea for the Universal Wheelchair System was formed.
