Current Week

Individual Hours:

~2 hours each individually

What we did:

We got the last bit of the code to work with the cushion so that it is now actively changing with a slight amount of reactive change.  All of the electronics and coding for the box have been completed and we have started talking about how to test all of the different functions to make sure everything works as it should.

What we didn’t do:

We have not yet tested every function of the cushion to make sure everything works as expected.

Where we are stuck:

N/A

Upcoming Week

Goals:

Make sure all of the coding works on the cushion and if not then troubleshoot everything so that it can be completed.  We will also begin some kind of practical testing to make sure our product is in fact useful.

Meeting times/dates

Sat/Sun 11am.

Current Week

Individual Hours:

~3 hours in the workshop

What we did:

We put together our code and wiring and fixed all of the bugs to where everything works correctly.  We found out the shift registers were not needed so we had to change the code again to run it without the chip.

What we didn’t do:

We haven’t gotten everything to work perfectly together yet but we are still modifying to code so that it will work effectively.

Where we are stuck:

N/A

Upcoming Week

Goals:

Get the code to work just right and then work on getting everything presentable for the presentation day at Exploration Place.

Meeting times/dates

Sat/Sun ~11am

Current Week

Individual Hours:

~2 hours individually

What we did:

Work was split among the three of us this week.  One put together the LEDs and the code for them, one worked on the code for the cushion to be able to use interrupts to implement a switch for an initialization step, and the other put together a shift register and installed it into the box.

What we didn’t do:

We have not yet put all of these jobs together into the box to test whether it works or not.

Where we are stuck:

N/A

Upcoming Week

Goals:

We are going to take our completed work and install it all into our cushion.  If there are any problems with those we will troubleshoot them and then move on to some of the aesthetic features of making everything look presentable and manageable.

Meeting times/dates

Sat/Sun 11am

Current Week

Individual Hours:

~2 hours each individually

What we did:

This week we split up parts of the code and did those with no formal meeting.  The code for an LED that is going to display pressure has been written and the code to change the cushion from reactive (reading in the pressure in a certain area and adjusting it) to active (the pressure changes over time, regardless of the current pressure in a certain area).  The change from reactive to active was decided after meeting with Greg at CPRF and his mentioning that that kind of function would produce the best results.

What we didn’t do:

We still need to write the code that will check for the state of the switch and then change to a setup mode if it is active.  After that we need to install the switches and LEDs in our current box.

Where we are stuck:

N/A

Upcoming Week

Goals:

To get the switch and LED wired into the box and successfully run the new code that we have written.

Meeting times/dates

Sat/Sun ~11am

Current Week

Individual Hours:

~3 hours in the workshop.

What we did:

We figured out how to calibrate the cushion to be able to get some values that are of use to us.  We also have our box ready to incorporate a button and switch setup that will be used for the initial user calibration.

What we didn’t do:

We have not yet installed the button and switch and are currently working on the code for the button and the switch.

Where we are stuck:

Upcoming Week

Goals:

What do you plan to get done during the upcoming week?

Meeting times/dates

Current Week

Individual Hours:

~3.5 hours in the workshop.

What we did:

We configured our pressure pad to work with our cushion and began to test to get some kind of reading on how well our cushion is doing.  After doing this we decided on what course of action we will need to take to implement a switch and buttons to be able to set a base configuration that is specific to the current user.

What we didn’t do:

After we got our data from the pressure pad we weren’t 100% on how to interpret all of it.  We will need to take the cushion and pressure mat to Greg at CPRF and get some input from him to figure out what kind of data we are getting from the cushion.

Where we are stuck:

Nowhere currently.

Upcoming Week

Goals:

Implement the switch and buttons to be able to create a specific user configuration.  We will also contact Greg to try to set up another meeting with him sometime soon.

Meeting times/dates

Sat/Sun: 11:30am

Current Week

Individual Hours:

Approximately 4 hours as a group in the Wallace Workshop.

What we did:

Since we now had the valves successfully installed we worked on the code to implement the valves and then went to purchase a new adapter for our new power supply.  With the new power supply adapter we had to remove our old one and solder the new adapter in place so that it would work in the same way as the one that we initially were using.  After the code was implemented there were a few hiccups as while it ran one of the valves would not open when it was supposed to but eventually that problem was solved and now all 4 pumps and valves work in unison.

What we didn’t do:

The testing has not yet started, however, during the coming week we will get the pressure mat and begin getting some values on how this works over time.  Other than that we completed all of the steps we had planned to start this week.

Where we are stuck:

Nowhere at the moment.

Upcoming Week

Goals:

The goals for the coming week are to get a lot of testing in and get some useful information that can help us to code the cushion better to give a more desirable output from the pressure mat.

Meeting times/dates

Meeting times are Sat and Sun at 11am at the Wallace Workshop.

Current Week

Individual Hours:

~3 Hours as a group in Wallace hall.

What we did:

We completed our group contract and installed valves onto our cushion to hold any air that is put into it.

What we didn’t do:

We found out that we require a new adapter to be able to use the new, more powerful, power supply that we have purchased to run the cushion.

Where we are stuck:

N/A as of now.

Upcoming Week

Goals:

We plan to get in code to operate the valves off of the program and to begin testing with our pressure mat to get some values that are of worth to us.  After we have some data we can augment the code to be more efficient.

Meeting times/dates

Sat/Sun ~11am

Current Week

Individual Hours:

About 3 hours were spend as a group in the workshop.

As for individual hours, this week we are each sourcing some parts then waiting for the parts to arrive.

What we did:

We spent our time in the workshop discussing where and how to proceed with the project.  We updated our gantt chart to portray the changes we have made in our vision for the project.  After we finished our discussions we found some of the parts we were going to need online and ordered one of them.

What we didn’t do:

We have not yet worked on the physical project itself.  We have only discussed what we will do to give us a clearer goal for our project.

Where we are stuck:

As of now we are not having any difficulties.

Upcoming Week

Goals:

For the next week we are hoping to install our valves and begin a first testing phase to see how we are going to need to make adjustments to achieve real results.

Meeting times/dates

Saturday: 11:00am

Sunday: 11:am if necessary

Notes/Misc:

Since the image of our gantt chart comes up very small in this format I have simply added a link for the pdf:
